In a city known internationally for its fantastic
pizza (if you don't believe us, wait in line yourself), winning
Best Pizza is a stunning achievement. Modern's been serving up
delicious apizza pies for years, and Advocate readers have
crowned it the best of the best time and time again. The crust
is thin, the sauce is delicious, the toppings are tops and
cheese is, well, cheesy. Plus, Modern has the welcoming feel of
a local pizza joint and a brisk and friendly take-out window.
Bill Pustari, Modern's owner, loves all the pizzas on the menu.
But if he had to pick one for his last meal on Earth, he'd eat
the "Italian Bomb." It's loaded with sausage, bacon, pepperoni,
peppers, onion, mushrooms and garlic. But, he adds, "there's not
a pizza on the menu I don't love."
