WEST SHORE FIRE DISTRICT swore in three new firefighters at Headquarters on Ocean Avenue.
The event occured on Wednesday, August 29, 2007.
WEST SHORE FIRE DISTRICT took part in the MDA Charity Event - Tip a Firefighter.
The date was June 11, 2007 at the Captain's Galley.
WEST SHORE FIRE DISTRICT took part in the Memorial Day Celebration, along with the
West Haven and Allingtown Districts. The Parade was held on May 28, 2007 .

The West Shore Fire District will be announcing their enrollment into the Municipal Employee Retirement Fund – Plan B for all new Firefighters hired after July 1, 2007 on Saturday April 21st at 10:00 A.M. at the West Shore Fire District Headquarters located at 860 Ocean Avenue West Haven. We are pleased to have Comptroller Nancy Wyman the head of the Retirement & Benefit Services Division of the State of Connecticut, West Haven Mayor John Picard, Rebecca Sielman of Milliman Consultants who will present an in-depth study of the pension plan, other elected officials and the general public. This is the culmination of a three (3) year plan to bring comprehensive pension reform to the department while at the same time safeguarding the pension rights of present and future employees.
This new pension plan was adopted with the cooperation of the Firefighters Union - West Shore Local 1198. We feel that with the spirit of cooperation between with the Board of Fire Commissioners and the Firefighters that together will be able to solve the serious pension problems that so many Municipalities and Fire Districts face. Our goal of comprehensive pension reform is strengthen by this move to the State Retirement system. This pension plan will provide a level of financial protection for the firefighter is fully funded on an annual actuarial basis and will save the Fire District a great deal of future tax dollars.
